“Kita” literally means “north” in Japanese. As the name suggests, Kita ward is in the northern part of Tokyo. With some commercial areas such as Akabane, Tabata, and Oji, Kita ward is nice for its relatively convenient location between the hubs of Ikebukuro in Toshima ward and the populous suburbs of Saitama prefecture. The area is also steeped in history and nature, as shown by popular sites such as the Asukayama park.
